New addition to Free Diaper Patterns!

As always, I am on the lookout for new links that may be helpful to Diaper Pattern Reviews. Today I stumbled across a new entry for the Free Cloth Diaper Patterns Page. The Bramblestitches pattern was included in September/October edition of Back Woods Home magazine! Only the hand drawn pattern is available online, but if you check out the resources page you’ll find tons of tutorials. There you are sure to find some instructions to help you along! I would recommend starting with the Celtic Cloths tutorial, which looks to be constructed similarly. The Bramblestitches pattern also lacks markings for hook and loop or snaps. It may work with a Snappi or pins, depending on your construction, or you could get brave and try your own placement. This pattern would probably be best for someone experienced with cloth diaper sewing, rather than a novice, based on the lack of closure markings and the lack of instructions. But if you’re like me, this only presents an interesting challenge and you may be willing to try it just for fun! If anyone tries it, I’d love to see some pictures so please add them!

Lisa from Clothing Labels 4U graciously agreed to share her thoughts on woven vs. printed labels in the product labels review section. Long ago when I was starting out I had no clue what kind of label or fabric I should put on my products. I chose woven just by chance, which was a good thing. As Lisa explains, printed labels will fade over time, and will do so fairly quickly on cloth diapers, considering the amount of washing they endure. If you’re looking for labels for your wahm products, I encourage you to check out Clothing Labels 4U. Lisa’s site has an extensive gallery of past work so you can see lots of examples. She also offers free samples so you can touch and feel different styles before you buy!

I was recently searching for product labels for another project, when it occured to me that reviews of common WAHM supplies might be a useful addition to Diaper Pattern Reviews. As always, the idea was stuck in my head the entire time I was cooking dinner and putting the kiddos to bed. I didn’t make it too far tonight, but it’s a start! I’m passionate about helping work at home moms (after all, that’s the whole point of Diaper Pattern Reviews!) and I’m sure this will be useful. Just in searching for labels for myself I had to search tons of different message boards, it took forever and I already knew which message boards to start with and what keywords to search! I did order labels, and will hopefully have them in a couple of weeks. You can be sure that I will add my own review as soon as they arrive!

A big welcome to our newest directory member, Darling Diapers! This extremely versatile pattern is tried and true by many sewers. I haven’t had the pleasure of sewing from the pattern myself, but I do own and love a beautiful diaper sewn by licensee Dunk n Fluff made from the Darling Diapers pattern as part of a newborn set. It fit so nicely, and we were sad to see it outgrown. If you’re looking for a diaper pattern with lots of different options, great tutorials and lots of pictures, check out Darling Diapers.
